Grey Sea Glass Necklace
As unique as the woman it adorns, this one of a kind, very rare shard of genuine grey sea glass is encased within a gold filled wire wrapped frame. Graceful and elegant, this miraculous grey-beige jewel of the sea is almost completely without inclusions and measures around one inch in diameter. The elegant wrapped pendant dangles effortlessly from the center of a 16 inch, gold filled fancy link chain.
Sea Glass aficionados near and far will certainly appreciate how excited I was to find this piece tumbling about in the Hamptons surf whilst out for a beach walk with Tiger. The sands of time shaping this little beauty to perfection, it's almost as if it appears chatoyant beneath its lustrous, frosted patina.
Grey sea glass is considered one of the most difficult to find in the increasingly rare spectrum of colors found in bodies of water throughout the world. Given the clues presented by its color, frosting, smooth edges and transparency, this one likely started life as a piece of antique stemware over a century ago, in the late 1800's or early 1900's.
